Σήμερα το βράδυ, Μεγάλη Τρίτη, ψάλλεται στις Εκκλησίες ο όρθρος της Μεγάλης Τετάρτης. Το τελευταίο τροπάριο στην ακολουθία είναι αυτό της ευσεβούς και λογίας ποιητρίας του Βυζαντίου, Κασσιανής.
Ένας από τους πιο γνωστούς θρησκευτικούς ύμνους…
Η Κασσιανή είναι μία από τους πρώτους μεσαιωνικούς συνθέτες τα έργα των οποίων σώζονται αλλά και μπορούν να ερμηνευτούν από σύγχρονους ειδικούς και μουσικούς. Περίπου 50 από τους ύμνους της έχουν διασωθεί και 23 από αυτούς περιλαμβάνονται στα λειτουργικά βιβλία της Ορθόδοξης Εκκλησίας. Επιπλέον, σώζονται 789 μη υμνολογικοί της στίχοι. Πρόκειται κυρίως για «γνωμικά».
