Μετά από ένα ταξίδι χιλιάδων χιλιομέτρων από την υποσαχάρια Αφρική, ο αρσενικός του μοναδικού ζευγαριού που έχει απομείνει στην περιοχή έφτασε και πάλι στο σπίτι του, επιστρέφοντας στην ίδια φωλιά που διατηρεί εδώ και δέκα και πλέον χρόνια.
Όντας πλέον 17 χρονών, οι επιστήμονες εύχονται ο “τελευταίος των Ασπροπάρηδων” στα Μετέωρα να μην έκανε για άλλη μια χρονιά όλο αυτό το ταξίδι χωρίς λόγο και να βρει φέτος ένα ταίρι, ώστε να μην είναι και αυτή τη χρονιά τα Μετέωρα αποκλειστικά αρσενική υπόθεση…
Στην Ελλάδα, είναι πλέον εξαιρετικά σπάνιος. Στη χ’ωρα μας η παράδοση τον θέλει να «κουβαλάει» στην πλάτη του τον κούκο, φέρνοντας την άνοιξη και την καλοτυχία, καθορίζει την προκοπή των κτηνοτρόφων, το πήξιμο του γιαουρτιού, την παραγωγή του τυριού, ενώ «συμμετέχει» σε γάμους.
