Ο συγκεκριμένος χώρος Αργυροτεχνίας Ιωαννίνων προστίθεται στον κατάλογο των αναγνωρισμένων από το Υπουργείο Πολιτισμού και Αθλητισμού μουσείων.
Είναι ένα από τα εννέα θεματικά μουσεία του Δικτύου Μουσείων του Πολιτιστικού Ιδρύματος του Ομίλου Πειραιώς (ΠΙΟΠ). Αποτελεί θεματικό μουσείο Τεχνολογίας και Επιστημών και βρίσκεται στον δυτικό προμαχώνα της νοτιοανατολικής ακρόπολης (Ιτς Καλέ) στο Κάστρο Ιωαννίνων.
Αποστολή του είναι η διάσωση της γνώσης για την ηπειρώτικη αργυροτεχνία, όπως αυτή προκύπτει από το αρχειακό του υλικό, καθώς και η διάχυση της πληροφορίας για την τεχνολογία της αργυροχοΐας. Το μουσείο λειτουργεί από το 2016, ως ζωντανό πολιτιστικό κύτταρο, με τη διοργάνωση εκθέσεων, σεμιναρίων, εκπαιδευτικών προγραμμάτων και πολιτιστικών εκδηλώσεων.
