Με την κορυφαία διάκριση στη χώρα, αυτή της «Smart City of the Year 2022», τιμήθηκε ο Δήμος Χανίων, κατά την απονομή των «Best City Awards 2022», συγκεντρώνοντας την υψηλότερη βαθμολογία ανάμεσα σε υποψηφιότητες από όλη την Ελλάδα. Έτσι αναδείχθηκε ως η «έξυπνη» πόλης της χρονιάς.
Ο δήμος Χανίων διακρίθηκε συνολικά για τις καινοτόμες πολιτικές που εφαρμόζει, συγκεντρώνοντας 4 gold βραβεία στις εξής κατηγορίες:
· Έργα Ποδηλατοδρόμων: Νέο δίκτυο ποδηλατοδρόμων στο κέντρο των Χανίων.
