Στις Ειδικές Συλλογές της Βιβλιοθήκης της Βουλής των Ελλήνων φιλοξενείται ένας χάρτινος χειρόγραφος ελληνικός πορτολάνος. Αποτελείται από 120 φύλλα και χρονολογείται το έτος 1534.
Πορτολάνος είναι το κείμενο που περιέχει οδηγίες και πληροφορίες χρήσιμες για τους ναυτικούς, για τα ταξίδια τους από λιμάνι σε λιμάνι. Πορτολάνος όμως είναι και ο χάρτης, που έχει γίνει ειδικά για να τους εξυπηρετήσει, δείχνοντάς τους ακτές και λιμάνια.
Έτσι, από το λιμάνι, το πόρτο, βγαίνει και το όνομα πορτολάνος. … Είναι γνωστή η ύπαρξη συνολικά επτά ελληνικών χειρόγραφων πορτολάνων: Έναν στη Βιβλιοθήκη της Βουλής, του έτους 1534, ο οποίος ίσως είναι και ο παλαιότερος, δύο στη Βιέννη (ο ένας αρκετά όμοιος με αυτόν της Βιβλιοθήκης της Ζαγοράς) και από έναν στη Βιβλιοθήκη του Βατικανού, στην Εθνική Βιβλιοθήκη στο Παρίσι, στη Βιβλιοθήκη της Ζαγοράς του Πηλίου και στη Βιβλιοθήκη του Πανεπιστημίου του Λέυντεν στην Ολλανδία.
