Το νησάκι Κουτσομύτης, μαζί με το νησάκι Τηγάνι και τις Κούνουπες, αποτελούν την «εξωτική ζώνη» της Αστυπάλαιας. Τα νερά και το περιβάλλον διαφέρουν από αυτά που θα συναντήσετε στις υπόλοιπες παραλίες του νησιού. Η προσέγγιση στα νησάκια μπορεί να γίνει, είτε ενοικιάζοντας ιδιωτικό σκάφος από την παραλία Λιβάδι, είτε με εκδρομικό καΐκι από το λιμανάκι του Πέρα Γιαλού ή της Μαλτεζάνας.
Το κενό ανάμεσα στον Κουτσομύτη και το Τηγάνι, που φαίνεται στη φωτογραφία, δημιουργεί ένα πανέμορφο πέρασμα για μικρά σκάφη με καταγάλανα, διάφανα νερά. Οι επιβάτες-επισκέπτες αρέσκονται να κάνουν βουτιές από τα σκάφη και να προσεγγίζουν την ακτή της νησίδας, όπου εκεί θα διακρίνουν και την ξύλινη κατασκευή- ποτίστρα για τα κατσίκια που αφήνονται εκεί από τους ντόπιους. Πολλοί επισκέπτονται και την βοτσαλωτή παραλία από την μια ή την άλλη πλευρά των νησίδων.
