Ο καταπληκτικός αυτός μετανάστης μεγάλων αποστάσεων μπορεί να πετά ασταμάτητα, καλύπτοντας αποστάσεις που ξεπερνούν ακόμα και τα 13.000 χλμ, από την Αλάσκα μέχρι την Αυστραλία, χωρίς ούτε μία στάση για φαγητό, νερό ή ξεκούραση!
Φέτος, μία αρσενική Θαλασσολιμόζα έσπασε όλα τα προηγούμενα ρεκόρ αφού διένυσε πάνω από 13.500 χιλιόμετρα, από την Αλάσκα στη νησιωτική Τασμανία, μετά από 264 ώρες συνεχούς πτήσης!
Για να πετύχει αυτούς τους άθλους, η Θαλασσολιμόζα διπλασιάζει σχεδόν το βάρος της πριν από κάθε ταξίδι ενώ παράλληλα, χάρη στην ανατομία της, καταφέρνει να συρρικνώνει τα εσωτερικά της όργανα μειώνοντας το βάρος της κατά την πτήση.
