Μία περιοχή που κάποτε ήταν αμπελώνες και στάνες βοσκών… Μάλιστα, κατά την οθωμανική περίοδο, η περιοχή ήταν ακατοίκητη και ονομαζόταν Κατσικάδα, γιατί στις πλαγιές του Λυκαβηττού οι γαλατάδες έβοσκαν τις κατσίκες τους.
Η κοντινή απόσταση από τα βασιλικά ανάκτορα του Όθωνα, έκαναν τότε το Κολωνάκι τόπο συνάντησης υψηλόβαθμων βασιλικών αξιωματούχων της αυλής και της «αφρόκρεμας» των Αθηνών. Τα χρόνια από τα τέλη του 19ου αιώνα και έπειτα, έχουν ήδη μετατρέψει το Κολωνάκι στην πιο πολυτελή περιοχή των Αθηνών και θεωρείται μία από τις πιο ακριβές του Δήμου Αθηναίων.
