Μία από τις πιο πολυφωτογραφημένες γωνιές της Μυκόνου είναι η παραλιακή συνοικία “Μικρή Βενετία” ή «Αλευκάντρα». Είναι μία γραφική γειτονιά με πολύχρωμα μπαλκόνια, μέσα στη θάλασσα που άρχισε να κτίζεται από τα μέσα του 18ου αιώνα. Tη θέση αυτή επέλεξαν οι εύποροι καπεταναίοι, πλοιοκτήτες και έμποροι για να στήσουν τα σπιτικά τους.
Η αρχιτεκτονική με τους εξώστες και τις ξύλινες εξωτερικές σκάλες ξεφεύγει από τα αυστηρά νησιώτικα πρότυπα θυμίζοντας κάτι από Βενετία, μια και τα παλιά σπίτια βρίσκονται πάνω στη θάλασσα. Η ονομασία “Αλευκάντρα” προέρχεται από τον αφρό των κυμάτων που “λούζει” όλη την περιοχή όταν φυσά βοριάς.
Από εδώ μπορεί να απολαύσει κανείς ένα από τα ωραιότερα ηλιοβασιλέματα της Ελλάδας.
