Το χάλκινο μετάλλιο με προτομή Αθηνάς που βρέθηκε στην ανασκαφή της πλατείας Διοικητηρίου στη Θεσσαλονίκη αποτελεί ένα αριστουργηματικό δείγμα της ύστερης ελληνιστικής τέχνης (μέσα 2ου αι. π.Χ.).
Η απόδοση της μορφής της Αθηνάς ξεχωρίζει για τον δυναμισμό και την ένταση, ενώ έξοχη αντίθεση αποτελεί η γαλήνια μορφή της Μέδουσας που κοσμεί το μπροστινό μέρος του κράνους της θεάς. Μαζί με άλλες τέσσερις χάλκινες διακοσμητικές κεφαλές ζώων που απεικόνιζαν πάνθηρες και σκύλους, αποτελούσαν τα διακοσμητικά στοιχεία ενός άρματος. Σίγουρα επρόκειτο για ένα όχημα πολυτελείας, προορισμένο για επίσημες τελετές και παρελάσεις.
Αυτό το μοναδικής τέχνης αντικείμενο ανήκε πιθανότατα σε έναν επιφανή Μακεδόνα εταίρο ή κάποιο μέλος της βασιλικής οικογένειας. Φωτογραφία από το Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο Θεσσαλονίκης.
