Η Αθήνα αναδείχθηκε ως κορυφαίος πολιτιστικός προορισμός της Ευρώπης στα World Travel Awards. Επιπλέον, το Γραφείο Συνεδρίων και Επισκεπτών του Δήμου Αθηναίων βραβεύεται ως το καλύτερο της Ευρώπης.
Στην εκδήλωση, που φέτος πραγματοποιήθηκε στη Μαγιόρκα της Ισπανίας, η Αθήνα κατάφερε, μέσω της Εταιρείας Ανάπτυξης και Τουριστικής Προβολής του Δήμου Αθηναίων (ΕΑΤΑ), να κερδίσει τον τίτλο του κορυφαίου Πολιτιστικού Προορισμού (Europe’s Leading Cultural City Destination 2022) ανάμεσα σε σημαντικούς προορισμούς όπως το Παρίσι, η Ρώμη, το Λονδίνο, η Λισαβόνα, το Εδιμβούργο, η Πράγα και η Βενετία.
To βραβείο Europe’s Leading City Tourist Board 2022 αποτελεί το επιστέγασμα της ανοδικής πορείας της πόλης στην παγκόσμια κατάταξη διοργάνωσης συνεδρίων και εκδηλώσεων, αφού πέρυσι η Αθήνα αναδείχθηκε 6η στην Ευρώπη και 8η στον κόσμο, σύμφωνα με την κατάταξη του International Congress and Convention Association.
