Είναι ένα χρυσό τσακάλι (Canis aureus), ακριβώς τη στιγμή που προσπαθεί μέσω της όσφρησης να εντοπίσει κάτι που το ανησύχησε. Την τρίτη φορά, κατά την οποία σταμάτησε για να μυρίσει τον αέρα, σηκώνοντας το κεφάλι προς τα πάνω, κάτι κατάλαβε και άλλαξε κατεύθυνση!
Στην Ελλάδα το χρυσό τσακάλι το βρίσκουμε στην Ανατολική Μακεδονία και Θράκη, στις Σέρρες, τη Χαλικιδική, την Αττική, τη Φωκίδα, την Πελοπόννησο και τη Σάμο. Τα παλαιότερα ευρήματα τσακαλιού στην Ευρώπη βρέθηκαν στους Δελφούς και στον Κίτσο και χρονολογούνται από το 5000-4500 π.Χ.
