Είναι η εποχή των ψαρονιών… Με συγκεντρώσεις μεγαλύτερες από κάθε άλλου είδους πουλιού στην Ελλάδα και με εναέριες μανούβρες που δημιουργούν ένα εξαιρετικά εντυπωσιακό θέαμα, τα ψαρόνια δίνουν αυτή την εποχή δυναμικά το παρόν στις αγροτικές περιοχές της χώρας μας!
Το ψαρόνι στην Ελλάδα είναι γνωστό και ως γκάρκουλο, γκαραβέλι ή ζαραβέλι, χειμώνι, μαυροπούλι και στην Κύπρο ως λαζούρι. Τα ψαρόνια τρέφονται με σκουλήκια, αράχνες, είδη γεωσκωλήκων, μήλα, αχλάδια, κεράσια, σταφύλια και άλλους καρπούς. Αντίστοιχα το ψαρόνι αποτελεί τροφή για νυφίτσες, αλεπούδες, σκαντζόχοιρους και έμπειρα γεράκια. Τέλος τα ψαρόνια αρχίζουν να αναπαράγονται από τις αρχές της άνοιξης ως τις αρχές του καλοκαιριού.
Στην Ελλάδα έρχονται τον Οκτώβριο και τον Νοέμβριο γιατί αυτή η εποχή για τα ψαρόνια είναι η κατάλληλη επειδή δεν τους αρέσει η ζέστη, αλλά ούτε και το πολύ κρύο.
