Ήταν 5 ετών όταν πήρε μέρος για πρώτη φορά στους UCO Endeavor Games, τους εθνικούς αθλητικούς αγώνες για άτομα με ειδικές ανάγκες στις ΗΠΑ. Εξαντλημένη από το άγχος και τη ντροπή, αποσύρθηκε με κλάματα πριν καν αρχίσει ο αγώνας ταχύτητας των 20 μέτρων. Η μητέρα της ήταν εκεί και σκουπίζοντάς της τα δάκρυα, την συμβούλεψε να μην τα παρατήσει. Η Ellie, αφήνοντας το φόβο της πίσω, ανακάλυψε την αγάπη της για το τρέξιμο.
Προπονήθηκε και μετά από λίγα χρόνια επέστρεψε στους 20ους UCO Endeavor Games και έτρεξε με αυτοπεποίθηση στον αγώνα των 200 μέτρων κερδίζοντας την πρώτη θέση. Είναι μία μαχήτρια της ζωής! Μπορεί να γίνει το παράδειγμα για τη δύναμη που κρύβει η ψυχή του ανθρώπου να αντιμετωπίσει τα εμπόδια…
