Το υπουργείο Πολιτισμού Η ταινία μυθοπλασίας «Μαγνητικά Πεδία» του Γιώργου Γούση, επελέγη για να εκπροσωπήσει την Ελλάδα στην 95η διοργάνωση βραβείων Oscar με σκοπό τη διεκδίκηση του Βραβείου Διεθνούς Ταινίας Μεγάλου Μήκους.
Την επίσημη υποψηφιότητα της Ελλάδας για το Βραβείο OSCAR Διεθνούς Ταινίας Μεγάλου Μήκους (πρώην Βραβείο Ξενόγλωσσης Ταινίας), επέλεξε επταμελής επιτροπή, η οποία συγκροτήθηκε αποκλειστικά για τον σκοπό αυτό. H Επιτροπή έκρινε ότι πρόκειται για μία ταινία που μιλάει απευθείας στον θεατή, ενώ δύναται να σταθεί σε ένα διεθνές κοινό, από τη στιγμή που πραγματεύεται ένα θέμα οικουμενικό, αυτό της υπαρξιακής κρίσης.
