Σαν σήμερα, στις 16 Σεπτεμβρίου του 2015, η Ελλάδα χάνει μία εμβληματική μορφή των Ολυμπιακών Αγώνων. Τη Μαρία Παναγιωτοπούλου-Χορς, περισσότερο γνωστή ως Μαρία Χορς, την Ελληνίδα χορογράφος η οποία για χρονικό διάστημα σχεδόν 50 ετών υπήρξε υπεύθυνη χορογράφος της τελετής αφής της Ολυμπιακής Φλόγας.
Η Μαρία Χορς, χορογράφος με άπειρες περγαμηνές έχει συνδέσει το όνομά της άρρηκτα με το θεσμό της Ολυμπιακής Φλόγας. Το 1936, στη πρώτη αφή, για τους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες του Βερολίνου, μετείχε στις ιέρειες αν και ήταν τότε ένα μικρό κοριτσάκι. Από το 1964 έως το 2006 ήταν η επίσημη χορογράφος της τελετής Αφής της Ολυμπιακής Φλόγας, εμπλουτίζοντας συνεχώς τη καλλιτεχνική επιμέλεια του τελετουργικού με πρωτοποριακές ιδέες.
Είχε μια εξίσου μακρά και καταξιωμένη πορεία ως χορογράφος για τους σημαντικότερους θεατρικούς φορείς της χώρας αλλά και για πολλές από τις σημαντικότερες παραστάσεις αρχαίου δράματος στην Επίδαυρο.
