Δείτε κάτι το εντυπωσιακό… τη συντήρηση έξι αποσπασμένων ψηφιδωτών δαπέδων από τη Σάμη Κεφαλονιάς στα εργαστήρια της Διεύθυνση Συντήρησης Αρχαίων & Νεωτέρων Μνημείων του υπουργείου Πολιτισμού και την επιστροφή τους στο νησί.
Ένα απαιτητικό έργο ολοκληρώθηκε, συνενώνοντας τις δυνάμεις και την τεχνογνωσία του εργαστηρίου με έμπειρους συντηρητές από άλλες υπηρεσιακές μονάδες, σε μια ομάδα που έδωσε τα καλύτερα αποτελέσματα.
Στη μόνιμη έκθεση της Συλλογής παρουσιάζεται η διαχρονική κατοίκηση της Σάμης από την πρώιμη εποχή του Χαλκού έως τους πρώιμους βυζαντινούς χρόνους, με ευρήματα από την επικράτεια της πόλης-κράτους της Σάμης και το Φισκάρδο- την αρχαία πόλη Πάνορμο. Τα ψηφιδωτά δάπεδα προερχόμενα από ιδιωτικά και δημόσια κτήρια, αντικατοπτρίζουν τις τεχνικές και τα μοτίβα που χαρακτηρίζουν την τέχνη του ψηφιδωτού στη ρωμαϊκή και υστερορωμαϊκή Σάμη και απηχούν τον ρωμαϊκό τρόπο ζωής.
